Name, Image & Likeness | NCAA

Last summer, I dove into the ruling and ever-changing news surrounding the name, image and likeness (NIL) debate and it’s implications for student-athletes in the NCAA. I created a few pieces of work, including a guidebook/booklet, that provides information to help student-athletes understand the rules of NIL.

I researched information about NIL rules and how it would affect student-athletes. Using this research, I created a long form written piece about the future of college athletics, in addition to a booklet. The booklet was made in Adobe InDesign.

I learned a lot through this process. The general idea of the booklet at the beginning was so different from the final product I made in the end, which taught me a great lesson – most of the time, the idea we have in our heads for a project, a plan, a goal or even a job ends up being completely different than we what we expected. That’s part of the process and how we grow as individuals and professionals. This project was a “trust the process” type of thing.

The first draft will not look anything like the final draft, and sometimes the smallest turn of inspiration helps lead you to where you need to go and takes you down a path you hadn’t thought of before. My work analyzing NIL is found below.
